Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

COLUMBIA, Ky. — Casey Bryan and Lyndsey Parden each pitched complete game shutouts as the second-ranked Lindsey Wilson softball team swept a doubleheader with Olivet Nazarene (Ill.) on Friday at Lindsey Wilson Park in the home opener.

The Blue Raiders (5-3) took game one 7-0, and game two 8-0 to extend their program-record home winning streak to 23-consecutive games.

Lindsey Wilson outscored the Tigers (0-2) by a combined 15-0 margin in the two wins. The Blue Raiders collected 18 hits on the day while holding Olivet Nazarene to five.

Sydney Fourman and Amber Foukes each hit a home run in game one. Fourman connected on a three-run homer, and Foukes smashed a two-run shot. Foukes collected another two RBIs in game two to lead the Blue Raiders with four RBIs on the day.

Bailey Mize garnered two doubles and an RBI between the two games, and Cassie Kooker recorded three hits, including a double. Amy Rogers tallied two hits, two RBIs, and a run scored.

GAME 1

Neither team scored for the first two innings of the game, but Fourman got the Blue Raiders on the board with a three-run home run in the bottom of the third inning.

Haley Beno, Olivet Nazarene's starting pitcher, walked Jenna Firestein to open the frame, but Beno got Bailey Mize to line out to centerfield. Firestein was then doubled off of first base and Beno was one out away from escaping the inning unscathed. However, Amanda McIver stroked a single to right field and Kooker was hit by a pitch. The stage was set for Fourman, who on a 1-1 count, rocketed her second home run of the season over the right-centerfield fence to put Lindsey Wilson up 3-0.

Bryan, who allowed three hits while striking out five in the shutout, made the runs stand up.

In the fifth inning, the Blue Raiders added four insurance runs to make the score 7-0. Mize connected for an RBI double scoring Firestein, who reached base four times in the game. Natalie Bertram, who pinch ran for Mize, scored the second run of the inning on a single by Kooker. After Beno recorded the second out of the inning, Foukes came up to bat, and on a 1-1 count, smashed her first home run of the season over the left field fence.

Olivet Nazarene's Emily Carstens roped a double in the top of the seventh to give the Tigers a runner in scoring position with one out, but Bryan got the next two batters to fly out and pop-out to end the game.

Bryan improved to 3-1 on the season for the Blue Raiders, and Beno fell to 0-1 for the Tigers.

GAME 2

The game was a scoreless pitcher's duel until the bottom of the fifth inning with Parden and Olivet Nazarene's Maggie Tidrow putting up zeroes for the first four and a half innings.

The Blue Raiders batted around and broke through with six runs in the fifth inning against Tidrow. Lindsey Wilson preceded to score two more runs in the sixth inning against Olivet Nazarene reliever Erica Cebulski to invoke the run rule and end the game at 8-0.

Callum Pilgrim, Foukes, Kooker, and Rogers each had two hits in the game. Foukes, Kooker, and Rogers also contributed two RBIs each in the win. McIver and Abbi Goedde drove in one run each.

In the circle, Parden continued where Bryan left off by pitching six scoreless frames, while allowing two hits and striking out nine batters. Parden improved her record to 2-1 on the season, while Tidrow fell to 0-1 for the Tigers.

The Blue Raiders return to action at 1 p.m. CT on Saturday for a doubleheader with Union (Ky.) at Lindsey Wilson Park.
