Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

COLUMBIA, Ky. – The second-ranked Lindsey Wilson softball team dropped a doubleheader to No. 8 Campbellsville (Ky.) on Saturday afternoon at Lindsey Wilson Park.

The Blue Raiders (16-10, 1-3 Mid-South Conference) dropped game one with Campbellsville (18-7, 3-1 MSC) 7-0 and saw their comeback attempt fall short in a 4-3 game two loss.

Cassie Kooker garnered two hits and an RBI on the day. She was the only Blue Raider with more than one hit in the twin bill.

Abbi Goedde launched her third home run of the season in game two.

GAME 1

Campbellsville scored two runs in the second, two runs in the sixth, and three runs in the seventh, on its way to a 7-0 win in the first game.

The Blue Raider offense was stifled by Victoria Decker, who tossed a complete-game shutout while holding Lindsey Wilson to two hits.

Casey Bryan started in the circle for the Blue Raiders and fell to 7-6 in the loss. Bryan surrendered a two-run home run in the second inning before settling down. She held the Tiger offense in check until the sixth and seventh innings when Campbellsville broke through for two home runs and five runs scored.

Lindsey Wilson's best scoring chance came in the bottom of the first when the Blue Raiders loaded the bases but were unable to push any runs across, an issue the home side has struggled with throughout the season.

Decker improved to 9-4 on the campaign for Campbellsville.

Kooker and Brittney Graves each singled for Lindsey Wilson for the lone Blue Raider hits in the contest.

GAME 2

After trailing for four innings in the nightcap, the Blue Raiders attempted to rally from behind in the bottom of the seventh.

Goedde turned on a 1-0 pitch for a pinch-hit solo home run off the Tigers' Neely Quint in the bottom of the seventh to draw within one run of Campbellsville at 4-3, but Decker came out of the bullpen, and struck out two of the three batters she faced, to end the Blue Raider threat and secure the win.

Campbellsville got on the scoreboard first when Jacqueline Roof score from third base on a bunt play.

Lindsey Wilson quickly turned a one run deficit into a one run lead when Amanda McIver and Kooker both recorded RBI hits in the bottom of the first. McIver lined a double to the fence in right centerfield to score Callum Pilgrim and knot the score at 1-1. Kooker then came to the plate and stroked a single to score Sydney Fourman and give the Blue Raiders a 2-1 advantage.

However, the Tigers responded with a single run in the second and two more runs in the third to take a 4-2 lead.

Emily Gray came in to pitch in relief after the Tigers had taken the lead in the third inning, and she did not allow a run over four and 1/3 innings pitched, allowing just three hits in a no decision.

The score remained 4-2 until the Blue Raiders' last turn at bat when Goedde trimmed the score to 4-3 with her home run. However, the Lindsey Wilson's comeback attempt fell short as Decker pitched out of the jam to end the game.

Lindsey Parden started the game for the Blue Raiders and fell to 8-3 on the year. Quint improved to 9-3 on the season and Decker picked up her second save.

The Blue Raiders return to action with a MSC doubleheader at Cumberland (Tenn.) on Tuesday at 1 p.m. CT.
