Box Score 2 PORTSMOUTH, Ohio — For the second-straight day, No. 6 Lindsey Wilson Softball swept a doubleheader from Shawnee State (Ohio) at Boone Coleman Field. The Blue Raiders completed a sweep of a four-game series by capturing game one, 11-1 (5 innings), and game two, 8-0 (5 innings), on Wednesday afternoon.
The Blue Raiders (40-10, 25-3 MSC) extended their winning streak, which started on March 22, to 24 games by sweeping the Bears (11-33, 4-24 MSC).
Wednesday's twin bill concluded the regular season for Lindsey Wilson. The Blue Raiders take the field next for a matchup with Cumberlands (Ky.), in the opening round of the Mid-South Conference Tournament, on April 29.
GAME 1
Eight different Blue Raiders recorded hits, Casey Bryan allowed one run in the circle, and Lindsey Wilson rolled to a 11-1, five-inning run-rule win over Shawnee State, in game one.
Lindsey Wilson scored in 4-of-5 innings, including a five-run third and a three-run fourth to break the game open.
Of the eight Blue Raiders to tally hits, three garnered multi-hit games: Cassie Kooker, Sydney Fourman, and Bailey Mize.
Kooker, who saw her 26-game hitting streak ended on Tuesday, got started on a new streak by going 2-for-4 at the plate with two runs scored and one RBI.
Fourman, who entered the day ranked 10th in the NAIA in RBIs, went 2-for-3 at the dish with a double, a walk, a run scored, and her 54th RBI of the season.
Mize, who came into the game sporting a .311 batting average, tallied two hits in three at-bats, including a double. She walked once, scored once, and knocked in her 42nd and 43rd RBIs of the season.
Bryan (18-6), who tossed 9-1/3 innings to earn her 17th win against the Bears on Tuesday, only needed to go four innings to pick up the win on Wednesday. She held Shawnee State to one run on three hits and struck out three.
Emily Gray, who replaced Bryan in the circle, pitched a scoreless fifth to close the door. She struck out two and walked one in one inning of work.
Miranda Pauley (4-12), who surrendered seven earned runs in four innings, picked up the loss for the Bears.
Game 2
Lyndsey Parden tossed a five-inning complete-game shutout, and seven Blue Raiders tallied hits, as Lindsey Wilson took game two over Shawnee State, 8-0, in a run-rule shortened game.
Parden (21-3), who held the Bears to one hit over five-scoreless innings, walked two and struck out six to earn her second win over Shawnee State in as many days.
Fourman, Abbi Goedde, and Callum Pilgrim had multi-hit games for the Blue Raiders, and Mize hit a home run.
Fourman, who entered the day second in the NAIA in home runs, blasted her 18th long ball of the season. She went 2-for-3 at the plate in game two with a triple, a run scored, and three RBIs to increase her season total to 57.
Goedde, who came into the day batting .306 on the campaign, went 3-for-3 at the plate. She tallied her fifth double of the season, and her 23rd and 24th RBIs.
Pilgrim, who came into the doubleheader with a team-high .407 batting average, garnered two hits, including a double, in four at-bats. She also scored her 46th run of the season.
The home run was Mize's eighth of the year, which is second on the team behind Fourman. Mize also walked and scored two runs in the game.
Morgan Conrad (6-16) picked up her third loss of the series for the Bears. She surrendered six earned runs on 11 hits and two walks, while going the distance.
The Blue Raiders return to action for a matchup with Cumberlands (Ky.), in the opening round of the Mid-South Conference Tournament, on April 29.
