COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Lindsey Wilson softball extended its winning streak to seven straight in NAIA Opening Round Tournament games with a 6-1 win today over visiting Ashford (Iowa) at Lindsey Wilson Sports Park.

Top-seeded Lindsey Wilson (45-12) advances to meet second-seeded Marian (Ind.) at Noon CT on Tuesday. Marian beat third-seeded Southern Oregon 6-4 earlier in the day. Ashford -- who falls into the consolation bracket -- faces Southern Oregon at 2:30 p.m. CT in an elimination game.

The top of the Lindsey Wilson lineup provided eight of the Blue Raiders' 11 hits while Lyndsey Parden struck out 11 Saints en route to her 24th win of the season.

Jenna Firestein went 4-for-4 at the plate from the leadoff spot while Cassie Kooker and Callum Pilgrim had two hits each and five combined RBIs in Firestein's footsteps. Kooker delivered the first home run of the tournament in the sixth inning to give the Blue Raiders some late-inning insurance.

Parden (24-4) was stellar in the circle, allowing just three hits in the complete-game effort.

Ashford's Taylor Ellestad supplied the lone run of the game for the Saints (30-23) in the top of the seventh with a solo home run.

Lindsey Wilson -- who has not lost in an opening-round game since the 2013 season -- jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the third on a two-run double by Pilgrim. The Blue Raiders are now 9-2 all-time in the opening round.

The Blue Raiders matched their second-inning production with two more runs in the fifth inning. Firestein led off with a single -- the first of four straight hits in the inning. Kooker followed with a double and Pilgrim added her third RBI of the game with a single for the 3-0 lead.

Sydney Fourman contributed a fourth hit in the inning, driving home her team-leading 62nd run of the season for a 4-0 lead.

Kooker provided the blast -- her fourth of the season -- in the bottom of the sixth for the 6-0 lead.

Parden fanned 11 for the third consecutive game and struck out double digits for the ninth time this season. She retired the first 11 batters before Ellestad and Siera Spahiu had back-to-back hits in the fourth inning. Parden got out of the fourth-inning jam with a strikeout. The Saints did not threaten again until the Ellestad home run.

Ashford's Nicole Schmidt suffered the loss allowing six runs on 11 hits in 5-1/3 innings of work.

Lindsey Wilson faces Marian at Noon CT on Tuesday. The game, originally scheduled for 1 p.m. CT, was moved up due to showers in the forecast.
