Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

COLUMBIA, Ky. -- The No. 8-ranked Lindsey Wilson softball team took both games of a Saturday doubleheader against Taylor (Ind.) at Lindsey Wilson Park.

The Blue Raiders (8-2) hit three home runs over the two games and received complete-game efforts from starting pitchers Casey Bryan and Lauren Lett.

Callum Pilgrim went a combined 3-for-7 from the plate for Lindsey Wilson, scoring three runs in the sweep.

Game 1: No. 8 Lindsey Wilson 7, Taylor (Ind.) 2

The Blue Raiders smacked two home runs in a 7-2 victory in the day's first game.

Lindsey Wilson struck first in the home half of the second inning, when Samantha Luckett singled home Amy Rogers, who reached on a leadoff single.

The Trojans (5-4) evened the affair in the next half inning on a one-out solo home run by Briley Spencer. Spencer's homer was the first base runner allowed by Bryan, who retired the first seven batters she faced.

The Blue Raiders responded with a pair of runs in the bottom of the third to regain the lead, 3-2.

Pilgrim led off the frame with a double to deep left field -- her first of a team-high two hits. Two outs later, Amber Foukes deposited a ball over the left field fence for a two-run home run.

Taylor got a run back in the top half of the sixth inning, but Lindsey Wilson put the game away in the home half of the stanza. The Blue Raiders loaded the bases with two outs, and Bailey Mize hit a grand slam that scored Cassie Kooker and Pilgrim, who reached on singles, and Bailey Parsons, who was hit by a pitch.

Taylor put its first two batters on base in the top of the seventh inning, but Bryan buckled down -- striking out the next two batters before inducing a game-ending ground ball to the shortstop.

Bryan improved to 4-0 after she allowed two runs on five hits and struck out seven in her fourth complete game of the season.

Maddie Cornell allowed seven runs on eight hits, walked four and struck out three over six innings for the Trojans.

Game 2: No. 8 Lindsey Wilson 3, Taylor 1

Deft pitching by Lett propelled the Blue Raiders to a 3-1 victory in the day's second game.

Lett worked around traffic in the first two innings and escaped having allowed just one unearned run.

The sophomore faced a bases loaded jam with only one out in the top of the second inning. Taylor loaded the bases on the strength of consecutive singles to lead off the frame and a Blue Raider error. After getting the second out, Lindsey Wilson committed its second error of the inning, which scored a Trojan run. With the bases still loaded, Lett struck out Anna Gunderson to end the frame and limit the damage.

Lett cruised through the remainder of the game -- allowing one base runner across the final five innings en route to her second win of the season.

Fourman put the Blue Raiders ahead early with a two-out solo home run in the home half of the first inning.

Lindsey Wilson retook the lead for good in the bottom of the fourth on a Rogers' double that brought home Fourman.

The Blue Raiders tacked on an insurance run in the following inning. Pilgrim doubled with one out and later scored on a Foukes' sacrifice fly.

Taylor went down in order in both the sixth and seventh innings.

Hannah Robbins pitched six innings and surrendered three runs, two earned, on six hits and two walks in the losing effort.

The Blue Raiders are back in action tomorrow as they host Union (Ky.) for a doubleheader. Game one begins at 1 p.m. CT.
