GAME 1 – Lindsey Wilson 3, Bryan 2
Bryan took the early lead over the Blue Raiders in the bottom of the first inning on a two-out double to right-centerfield.
The next three innings went by scoreless as Lindsey Wilson put runners on base early in the innings, but had trouble advancing them into scoring position.
The Blue Raiders finally broke through in the top of the fifth, scoring all three of their runs.
Cassie Kooker opened the frame with a leadoff double. Callum Pilgrim then singled to left field and after the leftfielder bobbled the ball, Kooker was able to score from third and Pilgrim move to second. Amber Foukes then laced a double off the fence to plate Pilgrim and put the Blue Raiders ahead 2-1. One batter later with runners on the corners, Samantha Luckett hit a chopping ball to third. The third baseman fielded the ball and fired home trying to get Foukes, but the catcher dropped the ball during the collision at the plate to make it a 3-1 game in favor of LWC.
The Lions trimmed the lead back to one with a run in the bottom half of the fifth after an LWC throwing error.
After no score in the sixth or top of the seventh, the Lions were retired 1-2-3 via strikeout, a sliding catch by Kooker in left field, and a line out to Amy Rogers at third to end the game.
Casey Bryan (8-3) picked up the complete-game victory in the circle.
GAME 2 – Lindsey Wilson 8, Bryan 1
Lindsey Wilson took the first lead of the game in the top of the second. After back-to-back singles from Foukes and Rogers, Luckett recorded an RBI groundout for the 1-0 advantage.
The Blue Raiders tacked on a three spot in the top of the third inning.
Madison Bryant led off with a single and after moving to second on a sacrifice bunt, Pilgrim hit a single to left to score Bryant for the 2-0 lead. Sydney Fourman followed suit with an RBI single of her own and two batters later, Luckett joined in on the RBI single party with one of her own to make it a 4-0 LWC lead.
Bryan dented the scoreboard in the bottom half of the fourth with a two-out RBI hit to make it a 4-1 contest.
The Blue Raiders doubled their scoring output in the top of the fifth, stringing together hits and using aggressive base running, to build an 8-1 lead. LWC recorded five hits, all singles, while stealing two bases and taking advantage of a pair of Bryan errors. Later in the inning the Blue Raiders had bases loaded with one out, but a strikeout and pop out ended the threat.
The sixth and seventh innings went by scoreless as Lauren Lett (5-2) picked up the complete-game victory.
Lindsey Wilson is back in action on Saturday for a doubleheader at Georgetown (Ky.).
