GEORGETOWN, Ky. – The No. 11-ranked Lindsey Wilson softball team swept a Mid-South Conference doubleheader against Georgetown (Ky.) on Friday 9-0 (six innings), 8-5 (10 innings) at the Tiger Softball Complex.

Cassie Kooker led the Blue Raiders (20-7, 6-0 MSC) going a combined 7-for-10 driving in three runs. Samantha Luckett hit two home runs in the first game driving in six runs.

Game 1 – Lindsey Wilson 9, Georgetown 0 (6 innings)

The Blue Raiders had a chance to strike first in the first inning but were unable to capitalize. Kooker led off the inning with a double to deep center field then advanced to third on a ground out. Sydney Fourman was then hit by a pitch to put runners on the corners with one out. A strike out and ground out would end the Lindsey Wilson scoring threat.

Madison Bryant drew a walk to leadoff the third inning then advanced to second on a stolen base. Bryant then advanced to third on a ground out. Fourman was hit by a pitch for a second time. The Blue Raiders ended up stranding both runners after a pop out ended the inning.

Lindsey Wilson got on the board first in the fourth inning scoring three runs with two outs. Amy Rogers began the inning with an infield single. Rogers then advanced to second on a ground out and Bryant reached on a walk. Abby Whelan reached base on an error by the shortstop that scored Rogers to give the Blue Raiders a 1-0 lead. Kooker cleared the bases with a double to increase the Lindsey Wilson lead to 3-0.

Fourman led off the fifth inning with a walk and then advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt. After a fly out Luckett hit a two-run home run to increase the Blue Raider lead to 5-0. Luckett later hit a grand slam for her second home run of the game to push the Lindsey Wilson lead to 9-0.

Casey Bryan (9-3) earned the victory allowing five hits and striking out six. Luckett recorded a career high in runs batted in with six.

Game 2 – Lindsey Wilson 8, Georgetown 5 (10 innings)

Kooker led off the first inning with a single and advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt. After a strike out, Amber Foukes singled to left to advance Kooker to third. A ground out ended the early Blue Raider scoring chance. Lindsey Wilson had runners on first and second with no one out in the third inning, but three-straight outs ended the scoring threat.

Whelan led off the top of the fifth inning with a single to deep left field and then advanced to third on a ground out. Kooker doubled to center field to score Whelan for the first run of the game. Callum Pilgrim singled home Kooker to give the Blue Raiders a 2-0 lead and Rogers drove in Pilgrim to increase the lead to 3-0.

Georgetown answered back with two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning. The Tigers began the inning with two-consecutive singles and a sacrifice bunt put runners on second and third with one out. Cassidy Janes doubled to deep right-center field scoring both runs to cut the lead to 3-2. Taylor Slade came in for relief of Lauren Lett and got the next two batters out to end the inning.

The Tigers were threatening in the sixth inning with runners on first and second with one out when Bryan came in to replace Slade. Bryan retired the next two batters to end the Georgetown scoring chance.

Lindsey Wilson added one run in the seventh aided by two Tigers errors to take a 4-2 lead. Pilgrim reached on a missed catch by the second basemen and Fourman reached on a wild throw. Rogers doubled to score Pilgrim.

Georgetown got its first two batters on base in the bottom of the seventh inning on a double and a walk. After a ground out, Chelsae Osborn singled in a run to cut the deficit to 4-3 and Kara Howard drove in a run to tie things up at 4-4.

After two scoreless extra frames, the Lindsey Wilson offense came alive in the 10th inning. The Blue Raiders tallied five hits in the inning while scoring four runs.

Kooker recorded a career-high four hits as Pilgrim and Rogers each drove in two runs. Bryan (10-3) recorded the victory pitching 4-2/3 innings of relief, while giving up two runs on three hits.

Janes drove in two runs for the Tigers (18-8, 1-3 MSC) in the game.

Lindsey Wilson is back in action on Wednesday when they travel to Lebanon, Tennessee to take on Cumberland (Tenn.) for a MSC doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. CT.
