Box Score 2 GULF SHORES, Ala. -- No. 8-ranked Lindsey Wilson dropped a pair of games at the Gulf Coast Invitational on Friday.
The Blue Raiders fall to 9-5 on the season with an 8-1 loss to Faulkner and a 6-5 defeat to No. 9-ranked Morningside (Iowa).
Amy Rogers drove home the lone Lindsey Wilson in the loss to Faulkner. Rogers and Callum Pilgrim combined for four of the Blue Raiders' seven hits in the game. The Eagles pounded out 13 hits, including three hits and four RBIs from Alicia Richardson.
Lauren Lett suffered the loss giving up seven earned runs and 11 hits in three-plus innings. Abby Whelan threw three innings of relief without allowing a run and surrendering just two hits. Faulkner's Caitlin Perry allowed one run and seven hits in a complete-game effort.
Lindsey Wilson committed four errors en route to a 6-5 loss to Morningside in today's second game.
The Blue Raiders scored five times in the first three innings to take a 5-1 lead over the Mustangs.
Sydney Fourman led the offensive charge with four hits, including her fourth home run of the season. Cassie Kooker provided three hits while Samantha Luckett added two hits at the plate.
Morningside scored twice in the fourth and once in the fifth to cut the Lindsey Wilson lead to 5-4. The Mustangs completed the comeback in the bottom of the seventh with a pair of unearned runs to improve to 9-1 on the season with the 6-5 win.
Casey Bryan suffered the loss allowing all six runs -- but only three of the runs were earned -- on five hits. She struck out six. Rachel Henks improved to 7-0 on the season with the complete-game win. She allowed five runs on 11 hits.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 9 a.m. CT on Saturday, March 4, as the Blue Raiders face Middle Georgia State on the second day of the Gulf Coast Invitational.
