Box Score 2 COLUMBIA, Ky. -- The No. 9-ranked Lindsey Wilson softball team swept past Cumberland (Tenn.), 7-0 and 4-0, on Monday in a Mid-South Conference doubleheader.
Lindsey Wilson improves to 32-7 overall and remains unbeaten in MSC play at 18-0. Cumberland falls to 14-26-1 and 2-18 in the MSC.
Callum Pilgrim recorded a team-high four hits on Monday with two-hit outings in both games. In total, six Blue Raider batters tallied multiple hits in the doubleheader.
Lindsey Wilson hit for power across the afternoon -- hitting four total home runs.
The Blue Raiders received two complete games from their starting pitchers -- Casey Bryan and Taylor Slade. Lindsey Wilson's pitchers limited the Phoenix to five total hits across both games.
Game 1 -- No. 9 Lindsey Wilson 7, Cumberland 0
Bryan fired a two-hit shutout and the Blue Raiders scored six runs in the bottom of the second in their 7-0 victory in Monday's opener.
The complete game was the 15th this season for Bryan, who leads Lindsey Wilson with 126-1/3 innings pitched. In addition, the senior from Sharps Chapel, Tennessee struck out five batters while walking one.
Lindsey Wilson out-hit Cumberland 11-2 in game one. Eight Blue Raider batters tallied at least one hit, including multiple-hit outings by Cassie Kooker, Pilgrim and Lauren Lett.
The Blue Raiders scored six runs on six hits in their half of the second inning. Samantha Luckett hit an infield single with one out to start the rally. Bailey Mize followed with a single, which pushed Luckett to third base. Following a strikeout, Lett singled into left field to score both Luckett and Mize. Lett then scored from second base when the next batter, Kooker, singled into center field. Sydney Fourman capped off the scoring with a three-run home run to center field.
LWC tacked on its final run of the game in the bottom of the fourth inning when Kooker smacked a one-out solo homer over the left field fence.
Bryan stranded two baserunners in the top of the fifth inning before firing one-two-three innings in the sixth and seventh innings to improve to 17-3 on the season.
Kaitlin Kralj worked three innings in the circle and allowed six runs on eight hits.
Game 2 -- Lindsey Wilson 4, Cumberland 0
Slade's fourth shutout of the season and a pair of two-run homers by Pilgrim and Luckett pushed the Blue Raiders past the Phoenix, 4-0, in game two.
The freshman pitcher allowed just three hits and a walk while striking out five batters, improving her record to 8-2 on the year.
Slade retired the first 11 batters she faced before allowing a two-out single to Kassydi Montomgery in the top of the fourth inning.
The Blue Raiders broke through for two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning. Amy Rogers worked a one-out walk before Luckett hit a towering two-run shot.
Lindsey Wilson doubled its lead in the next inning when Pilgrim hit a two-run shot -- her second of the year.
Alexa Snyder allowed two runs on two hits over four innings and taking the loss.
The Blue Raiders' season continues on Friday, when they open a four-game conference road series with No. 6-ranked Campbellsville (Ky.).
