Box Score 2 CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – The No. 9-ranked Lindsey Wilson softball team clinched the Mid-South Conference regular season title with a doubleheader sweep of No. 6-ranked Campbellsville 4-3 (8 innings) , 7-3 on Friday at Veterans Memorial Park.
The Blue Raiders (35-8, 25-1 MSC) have now won six regular season championships and their first since 2014. This was also the first doubleheader sweep of Campbellsville since 2012.
Game 1 – Lindsey Wilson 4, Campbellsville 3 (8 innings)
After a pair of singles, Brianna Scott got the Tigers (31-11, 18-4 MSC) on the board first in the bottom of the third inning with an RBI double to give Campbellsville a 1-0 lead.
Callum Pilgrim reached on a leadoff single in the fourth inning. After Amber Foukes was walked, Samantha Luckett drove in Pilgrim to tie the game 1-1. Foukes scored on an Amy Rogers sacrifice fly to give Lindsey Wilson a 2-1 lead. Tori Humphrey hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the fifth inning to give the Tigers a 3-2 lead.
The Blue Raiders loaded the bases with one out in the sixth inning. Lauren Lett drove in Rogers on an infield single to tie the game 3-3. Lindsey Wilson would be unable to push across any more runs in the inning after a force out at the plate and a ground out ended the inning.
Bailey Mize began the eighth inning with a double to left field. Mize came around to score on a Megan Terrell single to give the Blue Raiders a 4-3 lead.
Taylor Slade (9-2) earned the victory pitching seven innings giving up three earned runs on 10 hits. Casey Bryan recorded her first save of the season pitching one inning giving up a hit and striking out one.
Game 2 – Lindsey Wilson 7, Campbellsville 3
Kooker drew a leadoff walk in the top of the first inning and advanced to third on an error. Foukes hit a sacrifice fly giving Lindsey Wilson a 1-0 lead. Lett increased the Blue Raider lead to 2-0 in the second inning with an RBI single. Kooker added two more on a single and Pilgrim also drove in a run in the inning increasing the lead to 5-0.
Jacqueline Roof got the Tigers on the board in the third inning with a solo home run to trim the lead to 5-1. Pilgrim reached on a leadoff walk in the fourth inning and scored on a Foukes single to increase the lead to 6-1. Humphrey cut the deficit to 6-2 on an RBI single in the bottom of the fifth.
After back-to-back singles by Foukes and Luckett, Rogers reached on an infield single and Foukes scored on an error giving the Blue Raiders a 7-2 lead. Campbellsville added a run in the seventh to make it 7-3.
Bryan improved to 19-4 on the season pitching her 17th complete game allowing three runs on seven hits and striking out six. Kooker and Foukes each drove in two runs.
