Softball hosts Cumberland in doubleheader Wednesday on Senior Day

COLUMBIA, Ky. - The No. 9-ranked Lindsey Wilson softball team hosts Cumberland (Tenn.) on Wednesday in a Mid-South Conference doubleheader at 2 p.m. CT on Senior Day at Marilyn D. Sparks Park.

Prior to the game, Sydney Fourman, Cassie Kooker and Amy Rogers will be honored during Senior Day activities for their contributions to the softball program.

Lindsey Wilson (31-10, 11-5 MSC) split a MSC series against Shawnee State (Ohio) Friday-Saturday. Shawnee State won game one on Friday 6-5 on a walk off. Fourman had two hits in the game while Cassie Matlock drove in two runs. The Blue Raiders picked up a 6-0 victory in game two. Alaeni Ray and Kalli Harris had three hits while Amber Hancock had two with two RBIs. Taylor Slade picked up the win pitching four innings allowing five hits with two strikeouts.

The Blue Raiders took game one Saturday 4-0. Callum Pilgrim led the way with three hits and three RBIs. Annabelle Ramirez pitched a complete game allowing just one hit while striking out five. The Blue Raiders dropped game two 6-5. Pilgrim and Ray each had two hits while Harris recorded three RBIs.

Cumberland (28-17, 6-12 MSC) was swept in a doubleheader against Pikeville (Ky.) on Saturday. The Phoenix fell in game one 2-0 and dropped game two 5-4. Tawnee Hegre, Kayala Hoppenjans and Taylor Woodring each had a hit in game one. Morgan Arndt earned the loss pitching five innings allowing one unearned run on three hits. Hoppenjans had two hits in game two while Courtney Miles drove in three runs and hit a home run. The Phoenix have dropped five of their last seven games. Tyra Graham leads the team in hitting with a .405 average, Kayley Caplinger has driven in a team-high 41 runs this season and Miles leads the team in homeruns with six.

Cumberland swept a doubleheader back on April 10. Lindsey Wilson dropped game one 10-7 and fell in game two 5-1. The Blue Raiders have won five of the last seven matchups against the Phoenix.
