Box Score 2 COLUMBIA, Ky. – The No. 11-ranked Lindsey Wilson softball team completed a four game sweep of Kentucky Christian on Friday at Marilyn D. Sparks Park after winning 6-2 in game one and 6-3 in game two.
Callum Pilgrim led all Blue Raiders (29-6, 9-1 MSC) with four hits and two RBIs in the doubleheader as Alaeni Ray added three hits and Sydney Fourman had one hit and two RBIs.
Game 1: No. 11 Lindsey Wilson 6, Kentucky Christian 2
Ray went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead all Blue Raiders as Pilgrim and Amy Rogers both added two hits in the victory. Kalli Harris and Fourman both added homeruns.
Lindsey Wilson struck first after pilgrim led off with a double to right-center field and Alaeni Ray singled to put runners on the corners. Harris then reached base on a fielder's choice, scoring Pilgrim on the play.
In the bottom half of the second inning Lyric Houston double to left field. With two outs, Cassie Kooker doubled through the hole at shortstop scoring Houston and increasing the LWC lead to 2-0.
The Blue Raiders tacked on two more runs in the third inning. Ray led off with a single and during the next at bat Kalli Harris hit her sixth homerun of the season over the center field fence.
Lindsey Wilson added two more runs in the fifth inning. Harris reached base when Kentucy Christian (6-19, 1-7 MSC) right fielder dropped a fly ball. During the next at bat Sydney Fourman hit her eight homerun of the season to increase the LWC lead to 6-0.
In the sixth inning, the Knights got on the scoreboard after scoring two runs. Cassie Adkins hit a sacrifice fly that scored Jordan Shockley. Later in the inning Jade Spurlock singled up the middle, driving in McKenzie Vanover from second base.
After two groundouts and a lineout in the top half of the seventh inning the Blue Raiders took game one by a final score of 6-2.
Annabelle Ramirez (8-4) picked up the win for the Blue Raiders after pitching six innings and recording six strikeouts and allowing just six hits.
Game 2: No. 11 Lindsey Wilson 6, Kentucky Christian 3
The Blue Raiders were able to take game two of the doubleheader after recording just three hits to the Knights 11 in the game. Pilgrim recorded two hits and two RBIs as Cassie Matlock added one hits and Amber Hancock added one RBI.
Kentucky Christian scored one run in the first inning on three hits. Jordan Shockley scored the run on a Cassie Adkins single to left. In the top of the third inning Cartney Schoolcraft scored on an Adkins single to left.
Kentucky Christian pitcher Schoolcraft struck out seven of her first nine LWC batters across the first three innings of play to give the Knights the 2-0 lead.
The Blue Raiders responded in the fourth inning with four runs of their own. After Fourman and Hancock reached base on walks to open the inning. Cassie Matlock singled to left and an error on the play allowed Fourman to score.
With one out, Kelsie Cornelius reached base on a fielder's choice, as Hancock and Matlock were both able to score on a Knight error. Cornelius later scored on a Pilgrim single to center field to give LWC a 4-2 lead.
LWC added a run in the fifth inning on a Hancock sacrifice fly that scored Harris.
Kentucky Christian added one run in sixth but the Blue Raiders responded in the bottom half of the inning with a run of their own. With two out, Pilgrim doubled to deep left center field scoring Kooker and increasing LWC's lead to 6-3.
After a scoreless top of the seventh, Lindsey Wilson picked up the series sweep.
Lauren Lett (5-0) picked up the win after going 5-1/3 innings as Hannah Epperson got the save going 1-2/3 innings and recording two strikeouts.
The Blue Raiders are back in action against Cumberland (Tenn.) in a MSC doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. CT at CU Softball Field in Lebanon, Tennessee.
