COLUMBIA, Ky. -- No. 8-ranked Lindsey Wilson softball earned a pair of shutout wins over visiting Pikeville (Ky.) today at Marilyn D. Sparks Park.

The Blue Raiders (21-1, 6-0 in the Mid-South Conference) powered past the Bears (17-9, 2-2) 8-0 in five innings in today's opener and closed with a 5-0 win to take the first two games of the weekend series.

Lindsey Wilson picked up a pair of stellar pitching performances while pounding out four home runs today.

Hannah Epperson and Annabelle Ramirez each tallied shutout wins while Samantha Luckett homered in each game to lead the Blue Raider offense.

GAME 1: Lindsey Wilson 8 Pikeville 0 (5 innings)

Epperson allowed just one hit in the run-ruled shortened game to end Pikeville's conference-best 12-game winning streak in an 8-0 win. Epperson finished with three strikeouts en route to improving to 7-1 on the season.

Luckett and Makea-Al Kaluau each homered in the game to propel the offense.

Lindsey Wilson opened game one with a five-run first inning. Jaydee Boursaw provided an RBI single and Kaluau drove home two runs to give the Blue Raiders a 3-0 lead. Luckett followed with her fourth home run of the season to give Epperson all the breathing room she would need during the game.

Kaluau hit her seventh home run of the season in a two-run third inning. She finished the game 2-for-3 with a pair of runs and four RBIs. The game marked her eighth multi-RBI game of the season.

Lindsey Wilson tacked on a run in the bottom of the fifth to close out the run-ruled win.

Cassie Matlock joined Kaluau with a pair of hits in the game.

GAME 2: Lindsey Wilson 5 Pikeville 0

Ramirez struck out a career-high 16 Bears while surrendering just two hits in the 5-0 win in the nightcap. Ramirez -- who improves to 7-0 on the season -- records her fifth double-digit strikeout game of her career.

Callum Pilgrim led the charge offensively. She finished the game with three hits. Lyric Houston joined Luckett with a home run in the win.

The Blue Raiders opened the scoring in the second as Houston's ground out to first base chased home Matlock, who doubled earlier in the inning, for a 1-0 lead.

Pikeville starter Hannah Skaggs nearly matched Ramirez through the early stages of the game, allowing just one runs through the first three innings. She also hurled a complete game, allowing 11 hits and four earned runs while striking out four.

Lindsey Wilson broke through in the fourth and sixth innings with two runs in each frame.

Houston blasted her first home run of the season in the fourth, a two-run bomb to centerfield, to extend the Lindsey Wilson lead to 3-0. Luckett hit a no-doubter in the sixth -- a two-run homer -- to push the lead to 5-0. Houston finished 1-for-3 with three RBIs while Luckett ended 1-for-4 with two RBIs.

Lauren Lett joined Pilgrim with a multi-hit game. She finished with two hits in her three at-bats.

With the forecasted rains on Saturday, Lindsey Wilson and Pikeville are scheduled to complete the weekend series on Sunday at Sparks Park. First pitch is set for 1 p.m. CT.
