Adams Walk-Off Single gives Baseball 11-10 win over Shawnee State

COLUMBIA, Ky. – Brandon Adams singled through the hole between first and second to push home the decisive run in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Blue Raiders an 11-10 win over Shawnee State (Ohio). Adams' single pushed home Austin Rayno who reached base earlier in the inning on a single.

With the win, the Blue Raiders (8-10, 5-4 MSC) take the series after splitting yesterday's double-header.

Lindsey Wilson matched a season-high of 20 hits during the contest while producing at least one run in six innings. Rayno paced the Blue Raiders at the plate going 5-of-6 with four runs scored and two RBI's. Seth Price, Kelvin Llanos and Tyler Maskill each managed three hits as Nico Martinez led the way with three RBI's.

Shawnee State managed just eight hits for the contest.

The Blue Raiders started fast in the game scoring runs in four of the first five innings of the contest to an 8-7 advantage. Errors untimely plagued the Blue Raiders in the early stages of the contest keeping the Bears in the game. Two miscues led to four Shawnee State runs as five of the Bears' seven runs across the first six innings were unearned.

Lindsey Wilson opened the game scoring two runs on four hits in the first inning. After a scoreless second, Shawnee State leveled the score at two with just one hit and an LWC error that scored two.

The Blue Raiders bounced back in the bottom of the inning with two runs of their own. With the bases loaded, a Maskill single drove home both Henry Paulino and Llanos.

Shawnee State took a 5-4 lead in the fourth with three runs on three hits and a costly LWC error with two outs that scored two. The lead was short-lived as the Blue Raiders matched the effort with three runs of their own. Rayno led off the inning with a solo shot as Martinez then followed suit, hitting a two-run home run that also scored Price who singled earlier in the inning.

LWC increased their lead to 8-5 in the fifth inning as Rayno singled to score Ty Menrath who reached base via a single.

Shawnee State scored another run in the sixth inning but Lindsey Wilson tacked on two more runs in the seventh inning. Price doubled to right field on a ball that scored Maskill and Rayno who reached base on a leadoff double and a single, respectively.

Shawnee State leveled the score at 10 with a three-run eighth inning.

Kyle Collin recorded his first win of the season, entering the game in the eighth inning. Andy Rosales started on the bump for LWC going four innings with seven strikeouts. Five runs scored during his effort but all five crossed the plate unearned.

Garrett Goodwin (0-2) tallied the loss for the bears after pitching the final one and 2/3 innings.

Lindsey Wilson returns to the field on Wednesday when they take on Cumberlands (Ky.) at 2:30 p.m. CT.
