Murray, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson men's Track & Field team opened their outdoor season on Saturday as they competed at the Margaret Simmons Invitational at Marshall Gage Track located on the campus of Murray State in Murray, Kentucky. The Blue Raiders competed in nine events over the weekend picking up 24 points to finish tenth overall in the invitational.
The Blue Raiders got started on Saturday with the 400-meter race with K'ron Sherald finishing the highest for Lindsey Wilson at 16th with a time of 51.81. Josiah Harris rounded out the top 20 with a time of 52.40 while Brenden Parham finished 31st with a time of 55.01. Tanner Stonecyper came across the line with a time of 59.01 to finish 38th.
Next up was the 100-meter race that featured six Blue Raiders. Harris had the best time for the Blue Raiders finishing 13th with a time of 11.29. Parham crossed the line next for the Blue Raiders finishing 26th with a time of 11.60 while Kaleb Hodges finished 29th with a time of 11.71. Sherald finished 31st with a time of 11.83 and Tevon WIlliamson came across the line with a time of 12.10 to finish 38th. Ralph Facundo was the last Blue Raider to finish with a time of 12.12 and a 39th place finish overall.
Nearly the same six Blue Raiders featured in the following 200-meter race. Harris topped the timing charts for the Blue Raiders again with another 13th place finish with a time of 22.92. Sherald finished 22nd with a time of 23.39 while Parham finished 25th with a time of 23.50. Hodges crossed the line with a time of 24.57 for a 35th place finish with Facundo following behind with a 24.62 for a 37th place finish. Stonecyper wrapped up the running for the Blue Raiders finishing 49th with a time of 26.11.
In the high jump, two Blue Raiders produced top ten finishes as Jelle Goldbach finished sixth jumping for 1.90 meters while Justin Borden finished ninth jumping for 1.85. Williamson landed just outside the top ten jumping for 1.80 meters and a 14th place finish. In the long jump, which featured after the high jump, Robert Dyer jumped for a 22nd place finish leaping for 5.81 meters.
In the triple jump, three Blue Raiders finished ninth, tenth, and eleventh as Borden jumped for 13.03 meters, Rayne Jones-Foster jumped for 13.00 meters and Dyer jumped for 12.82 meters.
In the shot put event, Elias Foor completed a top-five finish throwing for 14.69 meters taking fourth place. Austin Campbell threw for 13.89 meters to finish eighth while Brandon Fields threw for 10.94 meters to finish 17th. Andrew Cronk finished right behind Fields throwing for 10.79 meters and Zach Segur threw for 10.18 meters to finish 21st.
In the discus event, Foor finished second throwing for 47.42 meters while Campbell recorded his second top ten finish of the day, throwing for 41.99 meters to finish seventh. Fields threw for 33.53 meters to finish 23rd.
In the hammer throw, Campbell finished 13th throwing for 40.46 meters while Fields finished 19th throwing for 36.24 meters. Segur and Cronk finished 25th and 26th throwing for 29.80 meters and 26.07 meters, respectively.
The Blue Raiders are back in action on April 2nd when they travel to Owensboro, Ky. to compete in the KWC Invitational.
