COLUMBIA, Ky. - The No. 2-seed Lindsey Wilson softball team received its first loss of the Mid-South Conference Tournament, as the Blue Raiders fell 7-4 to top-seeded Campbellsville (Ky.) on Friday at Sparks Park.  

Despite having a 10-6 edge in hits, Lindsey Wilson (38-8) gave up three home runs to the Tigers (39-11), two of which helped Campbellsville break a 4-4 tie in the sixth inning.

Lindsey Wilson got the bats going in the second inning when Lyric Houston hit a home run to left, her tenth of the season. Kelsie Bostock followed with her first hit of the season. Lexi Isable, Makea-Al Kaluau, and Sam Sims continued the inning with three singles in a row to score an additional two runs and take a 3-0 lead.

Campbellsville responded in the bottom half of the inning. After the first two batters struck out, Lexi Miller sent a ball over the center field fence for a solo shot. 

The Tigers got back into the game in the third with a couple of Blue Raider mishaps. Two hit batters, an error, and a wild pitch brought home a Campbellsville runner to reduce Lindsey Wilson's lead to 3-2. After two popouts, the Tigers produced a two-RBI single to take the lead at 4-3.

In the next inning, the Blue Raiders responded. Carissa Summers led off with a double to right-center field. Isable recorded another single to put two runners on with no outs. Kaluau slapped a ball down the third-base line and forced a wild throw by Campbellsville's Tori Humphrey, which allowed Summers to touch home and even out the score.

Following a scoreless fifth, Campbellsville used the long ball in the sixth to take the lead. Miller once again powered a ball out of the park for a go-ahead two-run home run and Ryleigh Oldham sent one into the trees beyond left field to put the Tigers ahead 7-4.

Unfortunately, Lindsey Wilson was unable to mount a comeback in the seventh inning, and Campbellsville won 7-4. 

Houston had a great day at the plate going 2-for-3 with a run and an RBI. Isable and Kaluau also produced multiple hits while Summers was the only Blue Raider to cross the plate multiple times with two runs. 

Annabelle Ramirez (25-5) received the loss after allowing five earned runs over six innings pitched but notched seven strikeouts. 

Lindsey Wilson's next game is on Saturday at 1 p.m. CT at Marilyn D. Sparks Park against the winner of game eight between Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) and Georgetown (Ky.).
