BLOOMINGTON, Ind. –Lindsey Wilson Men's Indoor Track and Field jump started its 2022-23 season on Friday competing in the Hoosier Open hosted by Indiana University.
The Blue Raiders concluded the open with eight top-five finishes in six events. Sophomore Jelle Golbach was .01 meters short from achieving a "B" standard in the high jump. Luis Groff finished 6th place after clearing 1.88 meters.
Golbach cleared 2.00 meters in his second attempt and placed second out of 10 high jumpers overall. He also placed sixth overall in the 400-meter run with K'ron Sherald taking third place recording a time of 50.72 seconds.
Continuing in the field events, Lindsey Wilson finished eighth, ninth, and tenth place in the weight throw as Austin Campbell threw for 15.35 meters, Andrew Cronk with 11.81 meters, and Zach Segur with 10.27 meters.
In the track events, the Blue Raiders had its way in the 200-meter run as three Blue Raiders finished in the top-6 with Edwin Van Wyk taking first overall with a time of 22.23 seconds. Mortiz Loschner placed third after a 22.54 second run while Luke Birdsong finished in sixth with a time of  23.03 seconds.
Wyk and Luke Birdsong advanced to the finals and placed third and fourth in the 60-meter run with times of 6.99 and 7.00 seconds. Parmer Elijah took seventh place in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.94 seconds. 
Finally, in the 1000-meter run, Justin Sterns took fifth with a time of 2.33.03 while Logan Bullock placed 11th with a time of  2.47.55 respectively. 
The Blue Raiders will continue its Indoor Track and Field season on Jan. 21 in Louisville, Ky. at the Bellarmine Open.
