LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson men's indoor track & field team sits in fourth place after day one at the Mid-South Conference Championships. The Blue Raiders rounded up 40 team points and trail behind Cumberland (Tenn.) who holds the lead with 47.5.
The Blue Raiders top-scoring event came in the high jump where Jelle Golbach claimed the event with a jump of 1.96 meters for 10 points and earned first-team all-conference honors. Justin Borden also claimed all-conference honors as he finished third in the event with a jump of 1.91 meters for six points.
Continuing in the field events, Austin Campbell claimed the shot put competition after throwing for 15.35 meters, earning a "B" standard, 10 points, and first-team all-conference honors.
In the track events, Jaylun Wallace placed sixth in the 600-meter run with a time of a minute and twenty-two point forty-three seconds for three points while Jace Cowman placed sixth in the 3000-meter race walk for three points with a time of 22:21.09.
In the preliminaries, Wallace placed fifth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 49.41 while Edwin Van Wyk placed third in the 60-meter dash prelims with a time of 7.00 and fourth in the 200-meter dash prelims with a time of 22.31. Both student-athletes have qualified for tomorrow's finals.
Day two of the Mid-South Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships continue tomorrow from the Norton Healthcare Sports and Learning Center in Louisville, Ky.
