COLUMBIA, Ky. -- No. 13-ranked Lindsey Wilson softball split a doubleheader today in a pair of slugfests with Campbellsville (Ky.) at Marilyn D. Sparks Park.

The Blue Raiders dropped today's opener 16-8 but rallied for a 12-11 nightcap win on the first day of a four-game series with the Tigers.

GAME 1

Campbellsville scored 12 runs over its last two innings to beat the Blue Raiders 16-8 in six innings in today's opener.

Lindsey Wilson jumped out to a 3-0 lead through the first two innings before the Tigers grabbed a 4-3 lead after three innings.

Makea-Al Kaluau hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the first inning and Zakiya Sizemore added an RBI single in the second to give the Blue Raiders the early lead.

Campbellsville used three consecutive home runs in the top of the third to take its first lead of the day at 4-3.

The Blue Raiders (13-5, 6-2 in the Mid-South Conference) tied the game in the bottom of the fourth as Mikayla Marquez chased home Sizemore with an RBI double.

The Tigers (8-9, 1-1) took the lead for good in the fifth with a seven-run inning. They added five more in the sixth to end the game in six innings.

Sandwiched between the two big Campbellsville innings, Lindsey Wilson scored four times in the home half of the fifth inning. Sizemore, Marquez, and Kylie Brown combined to drive in four runs in the inning.

Sizemore, Marquez, and Desiree Chang all recorded two hits in the loss.

GAME 2

Lexi Isable drove home two runs with a walk-off double in Lindsey Wilson's 12-11 come-from-behind win to take the nightcap.

The Blue Raiders scored three times in the bottom of the seventh to secure the split.

Trailing 11-9 entering the final inning, Sizemore, Marquez, and Kaluau all reached base setting up the late-inning theatrics. With two outs, Brown drew a bases-loaded walk to cut the deficit to 11-10 and Isable walked it off with a double to left-center field for the win.

Isable finished the game with two hits and three RBIs. She was one of five Blue Raiders to end the game with multiple hits. Kaluau, Brown, and Ellie Derrick all ended with two hits while Alexis Garayzar added three hits and two RBIs.

Trailing 7-3 through 3-1/2 innings, the Blue Raiders started their comeback with two runs in each of the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings.

Marquez drove home a run and later scored on an error in the fourth inning. Derrick blasted a two-run home run to left field in the fifth inning and Garayzar chased home a run in the sixth with a hit while another run scored on a Campbellsville error to cut the deficit to 10-9.

While Campbellsville added an insurance run in the top of the seventh, Olivia Franceshi kept the Tigers within reach forcing a pop-out with bases loaded to end the Tigers' seventh inning.

Franceshi picked up the win in relief, allowing just one run on four hits over her three innings of work.

Lindsey Wilson returns to action on Friday as the Blue Raiders host Campbellsville in the final two games of the four-game series at Sparks Park. First pitch is slated for 2 p.m. CT.
