COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson softball team split the second day of action with UT Southern on Saturday afternoon at Spark Park. Lindsey Wilson rolled in a 9-0 five-inning win in game one before falling in a close 4-3 game two.

With the results, Lindsey Wilson splits the weekend series with the Firehawks as both squads won two games after also slitting yesterday's doubleheader.

GAME 1: LWC 9, UTS 0

Emily Boin dominated the center circle picking up her ninth win of the season. She allowed just one hit across five innings and recorded five strikeouts. Makea-Al Kaluau managed a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate with three doubles, three RBIs, and two runs scored. Alexis Garayzar also had three hits with a three-run home run, a double, and a single. The Blue Raiders managed 11 hits for the game while UT Southern recorded just one hit.

Lindsey Wilson led off the game with three straight hits as Mikayla Marquez, Kaluau and Desiree Chang each made their way on base. Marquez led off with a single before Kaluau smashed her first of two doubles for the game that scored Marquez and LWC's first run.

Garayzar pushed three runs home with her second home run of the season on a lined shot over the left-field fence.

Marquez scored her second run of the game in the second inning after reaching base on an error. She advanced into scoring position with her second stolen base in as many innings before Kaluau drove her home with a line drive that crashed into the centerfield wall for two bases.

Just like the first two innings, Marquez reached base before stealing second to open the fourth inning. Kaluau produced her third double and RBI of the afternoon. Lindsey Wilson made use of two more hits and two UT Southern errors in the inning to push their lead to 9-0.

GAME 2: LWC 3, UTS 4

Lindsey Wilson battled till the end in game two but ultimately fell short. Both squads managed one run in the first inning but two Tennessee Southern runs to just one Lindsey Wilson run in the third inning gave the Firehawks the lead until the late stages of the game.

The Blue Raider leveled the score in the sixth inning, thanks to a Marquez single to the infield with the bases loaded that scored Ellie Derrick. Tennessee Southern got out of the jam with a double play that ended the LWC scoring threat.

The Firehawks managed a solo home run in the top of the seventh to push their lead to 4-3. Lindsey Wilson managed to put runners on first and second in Brown and Garayzar with just one out in the seventh, but back-to-back pop-ups ended the contest.

Olivia Franceschi went all seven innings allowing nine hits and two strikeouts to record the loss. Both Lindsey Wilson and UT Southern managed nine hits.

Lindsey Wilson returns to the field on Monday when they step out of conference play to take on IU Southeast at 1 p.m. CT on Monday.
