Box Score 2 GEORGETOWN, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson softball team took to the road this afternoon and picked up two Mid-South Conference wins against Georgetown (Ky.). Lindsey Wilson took game one 10-1 before rolling to a 12-4 win in six innings during the second game.
The Blue Raiders racked up 33 hits and 22 runs across 67 plate appearances. Mikayla Marquez led the offensive production going 7-for-10 at the plate with two doubles and two stolen bases. Sam Sims was also effective, going 6-of-10 with two doubles and four RBIs while Makea-Al Kaluau picked up five hits in eight appearances with a home run, a double, and a team-leading six RBIs.
As a team, Lindsey Wilson managed a .493 batting average as seven LWC hitters managed marks over .400 at the plate.
In the center circle, Kaylee Covey and Olivia Francheshi both picked up wins. Covey pitched five innings in game one coming on in relief for his first win this season while Francheshi went all six innings of game two to pick up her second win of the season.
GAME 1: LWC 10, GC 1
Lindsey Wilson rolled in the opening game of the four-game series, pummeling the Tigers pitching staff with a season-high 18 hits. The Blue Raiders added another season-high as they compiled seven doubles during the seven-inning contest.
Kaluau went 4-for-4 at the plate with a two-run home run, a double, and two singles to go along with four RBIs. Emily Boin got the start in the circle, pitching the first two innings, and allowed the only Georgetown run in the first inning. Covey came on in relief to pitch the final five innings to earn her first win of the season.
Lindsey Wilson opened the contest scoring three runs scattered across the first three innings. An RBI single by Kaluau in the first scored the opening run as Brianna Griffiths gave the Blue Raiders the lead for good in the second with an RBI double. Alexis Garayzar provided the Blue Raiders third run in the third inning with an RBI single.
After two scoreless innings, the Blue Raiders broke the game wide open in the sixth and seventh inning, scoring two and five runs over their final six outs. The Lindsey Wilson offense exploded for eight hits across the final two innings to easily claim the victory.
GAME 2: LWC 12, GC 4
Lindsey Wilson led from wire to wire in game two after scoring the game's first five runs. Lindsey Wilson managed one run in the first, second, and fourth inning before taking a 5-0 lead in the fifth when two more runs crossed home.
Georgetown came to life in the fifth inning as well, pushing three runs home as they recorded all three of their hits for the game in the inning.
The Blue Raiders put the game away with a season-high seven runs in the sixth inning. Lindsey Wilson managed five hits in the inning while making use of multiple Tiger miscues to put the contest out of reach.
Georgetown managed a final run in the bottom half of the sixth inning but the Blue Raiders would take the contest via run rule after six innings.
Marquez and Sims led the offensive surge, going 4-for-5 at the plate. Four Blue Raiders finished the game with multiple hits. Francheshi went the distance for LWC in the center circle striking out two while allowing just six hits.
Lindsey Wilson returns to the field tomorrow at 1 p.m. CT for their final two games of the MSC series with Georgetown.
