Softball Drops Two In Tough Afternoon Against No. 3 Lions

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

HENDERSON, Tenn. – It was a tough afternoon for the No. 12 Lindsey Wilson softball team as they fell in both games of today's doubleheader with the No.3 Lions. The Blue Raiders fell in game one 3-0 after not giving up a run until the sixth inning while falling in game two 11-2.

GAME 1: LWC 0, FHU 3

It was a defensive battle in game one as the two teams kept each other off the board until the sixth inning.

The Lions - who got the winning runs in the sixth off an RBI single and triple to break the deadlock – managed to get the win while only producing four hits to the Blue Raiders' two in the game.

Emily Boin (9-3) suffered the loss on the mound, allowing all three runs on four hits over six innings of work.

Lindsey Wilson's two hits are the lowest output of the season while it's the first time the Blue Raiders have been shut out since April 2020.

GAME 2: LWC 2, FHU 11

Things went from bad to worse for the Blue Raiders in game two as the hosts opened the game with nine runs scoring six in the first inning and three more in the second to lead 9-0.

The Blue Raiders finally got their first run of the series in the fourth after Alexis Garayzar hit a sacrifice fly to bring Kylie Brown across home plate.

Elizabeth Funk made it 9-2 in the fifth after her RBI double scored Desiree Chang.

After two scoreless innings, the Lions homered in the sixth for the walk-off 11-2 win.

Six Blue Raiders had hits in the loss as Chang led the team with three in the game. Olivia Franceschi (5-3) suffered the loss after starting on the mound. She went 1 - 1/3 innings giving up nine runs on 10 hits while Brylee Pickerell (0-0) came on in relief in her first action from the mound this season allowing two runs on six hits over 4 – 1/3 innings of work.

Lindsey Wilson looks to get back on track tomorrow as they close out the series with the Lions in doubleheader action beginning at 1 p.m. CT.
