Box Score 2 HENDERSON, Tenn. – The Lindsey Wilson softball team split their doubleheader with No. 3-ranked Freed-Hardeman in road Mid-South Conference action on Saturday afternoon. With the split, the Blue Raiders drop the weekend series after falling in both of yesterday's contests.
GAME 1: LWC 4, FHU 2
Lindsey Wilson pulled out their first win of the series in a pitcher's duel as the Blue Raiders managed four hits to the Lions three. Emily Boin recorded the win, striking out eight across seven innings of play and 23 batters faced.
Kylie Brown proved to be the difference-maker in the game for Lindsey Wilson. The Junior was responsible for all four runs with two, two RBI home runs in the fourth and sixth innings. Desiree Chang managed the other two hits in the game, batting just before Brown in the order. She finished the game with a double and a single.
Bethel scored their two runs in the third inning, producing all three of the hits in the game during the period to take an early 2-0 lead.
Emily Bradford came on in relief in the sixth inning to record the loss. Morgan Crawford pitched the first five innings, allowing two runs, and added three strikeouts.
GAME 2: LWC 0, FHU 8
Lindsey Wilson struggled in game two, falling in five innings and failing to record a hit during the contest.
Freed-Hardeman pushed home runs across the first three innings, scoring four in the first and two in the second and third to easily claim the win. The Lions managed seven hits in the game and made use of two Lindsey Wilson errors.
Kaylee Covey opened the game in the center circle for LWC to record the loss, pitching 1-1/3 innings. She allowed six runs and recorded one strikeout.
Freed-Hardeman's Brittany Adair tallied the no-hitter win with five strikeouts across 15 batters.
Lindsey Wilson returns to the field on April 8-9 when they travel to Lebanon, Tenn. to take on Cumberland (Tenn.) in a four-game MSC series.
