WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson men's track and field team continued their outdoor season this weekend as they finished 2nd with 115 total points in the Cumberlands Invite hosted by the University of the Cumberlands.
In the track events, Edwin Van Wyk got things started when he finished fourth in the 100-meter dash with a time of eleven point eight seconds for five points. Brenden Parham continued things in the 200-meter dash with a sixth-place finish at 22.57 for three points.
Jaylun Wallace kept the top-five finishes coming for the Blue Raiders as he placed second in the 400-meter run with a time of 49.77 for eight points.
Noah Brown and Justin Stearns each earned top-10 finishes in the 800-meter run as Brown placed third with a time of 2:03.99 for six points while Stearns finished sixth with a time of 2:05.70 for three points.
Nolan Foushee earned the Blue Raiders a win on the afternoon after he took the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:11.10 for all 10 points while Stearns placed third at 4:12.69 for six points and Brown followed in fifth at 4:13.82 for four points.
In the 400-meter hurdles, Jabari Springs added a point for the team after finishing eighth with a time of 1:03.75.
Jordan Tucker, Victor Clark, and Michael Schonter all earned points in the 3,000-meter steeplechase as the trio placed second, sixth, and seventh, respectively. Tucker earned eight points with a time of 10:25.98 with Clark picking up three points at 10:41.18 and Schonter two points at 10:45.20.
In the relays, the Blue Raiders claimed the 4x100 meter event as Parham, van Wyk, Wallace, and Kadon Wilson finished with a time of 43.29 for all 10 points while in the 4,000-medley relay, a group of Brown, Foushee, Stearns, and Tucker placed second for eight points with a time of 11:01.67.
In the field events, Austin Campbell picked up three top-five finishes after he took the shot put competition with a throw of 14.91 meters for all 10 points, placed third in the discus competition with a throw of 43.67 meters for six points, and placed fourth in the hammer throw with a toss of 44.31 meters for five points. Brandon Fields also placed sixth in the hammer throw earning three points with a throw of 43.03 meters. Lastly in the field events, Andrew Cronk earned two points after finishing seventh in the javelin throw with a throw of 34.37 meters.
Lastly, David Johns won the decathlon event after earning 4,479 points in the competition. The freshman placed first in the 100-meter dash, 400-meter run, and 110-meter hurdles while earning top-five finishes in the shot put competition, pole vault competition, javelin throw, and 1,500-meter run.
The Blue Raiders will continue their outdoor season on April 15 when they travel to Owensboro, Kentucky for the Brescia Invite hosted by Brescia University.
