Softball Dominate in 7-1 Win Over Campbellsville

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The No.3-seeded Lindsey Wilson softball team rolled in a 7-1 win over Campbellsville (Ky.) in their second contest of the Mid-South Conference Tournament. The Blue Raiders poured in runs across four innings while holding the Tigers scoreless through six.

Emily Boin (19-3) was dominant in the center circle, allowing just three hits, all coming in the final two innings of the contest. She recorded eight strikeouts and allowed just one run.

Lindsey Wilson wasted no time getting on the board with a three-run first inning. Mikayla Marquez led off with a single before advancing into scoring position with her 26th stolen base of the season. Makea-Al Kaluau then singled to left field, scoring Marquez and the game's first run.

A Kylie Brown double to deep right-center field, a ball that crashed off the wall, put runners on second and third with one out. Alexis Garayzar drove in the second run on a sac fly before an Ellie Derrick double to right field scored Brown and the inning's final run.

In a three-hit third inning, Lindsey Wilson added another run to push their lead to four. Desiree Chang opened with a single before a Brown single through the left side put runners at first and second. Derrick managed her second hit and second RBI during her at-bat with a single down the left-field line, scoring Chang.

Two more runs in the fourth inning gave the Blue Raiders a commanding 6-0 lead. Lindsey Wilson managed two more hits in the inning, running their total to nine across the opening four innings. Kaluau reached base on her second single of the contest as Chang then reached on an error by the Tigers' second baseman. Brown then drove in two runs with her third hit in as many bats.

Lindsey Wilson threatened with more in the fifth inning, loading the bases across their first three batters but the Tigers managed three straight outs to end the threat.

Derrick provided her third RBI of the evening in the sixth with a double that reached the left-center field wall. The play scored Chang who reached on a walk earlier in the inning.

Campbellsville put their first run on the board in the bottom of the seventh inning, recording two of their three hits, as LWC managed the 7-1 result.

With the win, Lindsey Wilson advances to face top-seeded Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) tomorrow at 4 p.m. CT. The contest will be played at South Warren High School.
