Softball Drops First Game of MSC Tournament to Freed-Hardeman

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The No. 3-seeded Lindsey Wilson softball team fell to the elimination bracket with their first loss in the Mid-South Conference Tournament on Saturday afternoon. The Blue Raiders (37-15) were shut out by top-seeded Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) 4-0.

With the loss, Lindsey Wilson will face No. 2 seed Campbellsville (Ky.) tomorrow at Noon CT. Lindsey WIlson defeated Campbellsville once already in the tournament on a 7-1 result.

A spot in the MSC Tournament final and an NAIA National Championship Tournament automatic qualifying bid is on the line for both squads.

Lindsey Wilson managed six hits to the Lions' seven but failed to push any run home after leaving nine runners stranded. Freed-Hardeman used timely hitting to push home three runs in the fourth, on a three-run home run, while adding an insurance run in the sixth.

Lexi Isable was 2-of-3 at the plate while Makea-Al Kaluau, Desiree Chang, Alexis Garayzar, and Zakiya Sizemore each collected one hit.

Emily Boin (19-4) recorded the loss after pitching four innings. She recorded three strikeouts across 17 batters while allowing five hits and three runs. Sadie Werner closed out the game, allowing two hits and the final run across nine batters.

Lindsey Wilson returns to the field tomorrow at Noon CT at South Warren High School.
