Box Score CAMPBELLSVILLE, Ky. – At Hord Field, the Lindsey Wilson softball team had a tough showing against the homestanding Tigers, falling 11-1 in a five-inning mercy-rule decision.
Sophomore Amanda Schick furnished the Blue Raiders' lone run on the afternoon with her third home run of the weekend and team-leading fourth of the season. The fourth-inning blast to center field was the local's only hit of the game as Campbellsville starter Katy Chadwell and her defense stifled Lindsey Wilson with each trip to the plate.
The hosts pounced early with a crooked three-piece in the bottom leg of the first inning, then added another run two frames later to increase their lead to 4-0. The solo shot from Schick in the top half of the penultimate inning provided a small spark for the Blue Raider offense, but a seven-run outburst by the Tigers in the following half-inning kept Lindsey Wilson at bay.
Freshman Grace Adams worked 2.2 innings in the circle and surrendered three earned runs on three hits while also retiring one Tiger batter on strikes.
Next on the docket for the Blue Raiders is a weekend trip to Lawrenceville, Georgia for a two-game, four-game series with No. 11 Georgia Gwinnett. The match-up with the Grizzlies is slated to begin on Friday, March 24 at 1 p.m. CST.
