COLUMBIA, Ky. - The Lindsey Wilson softball team will be hosting Union College on Friday for their home opener.
The Blue Raiders have started their season with a 1-3 record after opening their season at the Georgia Gwinnett Grizzly Open last weekend. During opening weekend, Melania Tucker recorded a .462 batting average and had six hits, and Elizabeth Funk had a .500 batting average and also had six hits, with three of the hits resulting in extra bases. On the mound, freshman Kayden Murray had two starts and recorded 11 strikeouts during the weekend. Grace Adams made two relief appearances, with 8.2 innings pitched. She recorded one win and had zero earned runs throughout the weekend. The last meeting between the Blue Raiders and the Bulldogs was on April 22, 2022, with the Blue Raiders taking the game with a score of 9-5.
Union College is currently 2-2 on their season after falling to Campbellsville through two games on Wednesday. Senior Sarah Lowe has a batting average of .538, tallying seven hits in 13 at at batts for the Bulldogs along with three hits resulting in extra bases and two homeruns. Megan Merritt has a .455 batting average and has had five hits for the Bulldogs with two hits leading to extra bases. Taylor Whisonant has also recorded five hits, three leading to extra bases and one homerun. Merritt has started two games on the mound, recording one win and averages 8.1 innings pitched. Carley Cain has made two relief appearances, recording the second win for the Bulldogs.
