Box Score COLUMBIA, Ky. – Elizabeth Funk hit the go-ahead RBI-double in the bottom of the sixth inning and Kayden Murray fired another complete-game to help lead the Lindsey Wilson softball past No. 10 Georgia Gwinnett 3-2 in Friday's series opener.

The dramatic finish comes after the visiting Grizzlies battled back to tie the game late, setting up the Blue Raiders for their own heroics.

Pitching was the name of the game in the early stages, as Georgia Gwinnett's Annalise Jarvis and Murray worked through three consecutive innings of scoreless softball to set the tone. The Grizzlies pushed a runner to third base in the top half of the first frame, but a laser throw from Brylee Pickerell to Kelsie Bostock caught the runner at the plate and led to an inning-ending double play.

Lindsey Wilson broke through in the bottom leg of the fourth inning when Natalie Wandrie skied her fourth home run of the season over the left field fence to plate her and Funk for a 2-0 Blue Raider lead.

Following an empty fifth inning from both sides, the visitors got themselves on the scoreboard with a pair of two-out hits.

Knotted at 2-2, Lindsey Wilson returned to the plate and produced a series of two-out hits of their own. The first of which came off the bat of Pickerell to left field, then Funk checked in and launched an electric double to deep center field to score her fellow senior and restore the home side's lead.

A three-up, three-down top half of the seventh solidified the upset and secured Murray's 14th victory of the year.

The freshman closed the day with four strikeouts and allowed two earned runs on seven hits.

Lindsey Wilson and Georgia Gwinnett meet again for a twin bill at 1 p.m. CST on Saturday, April 27.
