Box Score COLUMBIA, Ky. – The No. 11-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's tennis team defeated Cumberland (Tenn.) 6-1 on Monday at the Henry Baughman Tennis Complex.
With the victory, the Blue Raiders capture their 17th Mid-South Conference regular season championship. Lindsey Wilson will be the No. 1 seed in the MSC Tournament beginning on April 18 in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
Heyka Rodriguez and
Mariangeles Mateu defeated Valentina Mendez and Kaede Hotano 6-1 at No. 2 singles.
Martina Cortal and
Anastasiia Ivanchenko earned the doubles point for the Blue Raiders winning 6-4 on court three. In the top-seeded doubles match,
Anastasiia Vorobiova and
Darija Mladenovic were winning 4-3 when doubles play stopped.
Mateu increased the Lindsey Wilson lead to 2-0 with a 7-5, 6-0 victory over Hatano. Vorobiova – ranked No. 14 in ITA – defeated Maria Arbelaez 7-6, 6-4 on court one.
Reshma Challarapu clinched the match for the Blue Raiders winning at No. 3 singles.
Mladenovic won 6-4, 6-0 at No. 4 singles and Ivanchenko – No. 32 won 6-0, 7-5 at No. 5 singles. Cumberland's lone point of the match came at No. 6 singles.
The MSC Women's Tennis Tournament bracket is slated to be released later in the week.
