COLUMBIA, Ky. – On Wednesday, the Lindsey Wilson junior varsity volleyball squad picked up its second sweep in three matches on Wednesday afternoon, defeating Midway (Ky.) to remain undefeated at home.
Freshman
Baleigh Young paced an offense that produced 21 kills with eight of her own while hitting 0.583. Sophomores
Natalie Wandrie and
Briley Burns contributed five and four kills, respectively.
Carli Dragoo and
Ahalia Rameriz combined for 18 of Lindsey Wilson's 20 assists, while
Haleigh Wood led the defense with nine digs.
The visiting Eagles grabbed an early 4-0 lead in the first set, but the Blue Raiders' relentless attack helped pull themselves back to a 12-12 scoreline. From there, the hosts took control, and with the help of a dominating effort from the service line, outscored Midway 13-4 to take the opening frame, 25-16.
Lindsey Wilson showed no signs of slowing down in the second set, cruising to a 25-13 win to seal the match.
All told, the Blue Raiders totaled 10 service aces, including four from Wandrie, three from
Lillie Walker, and two from Wood.
The junior varsity volleyball team is home this weekend for a pair of matches. At 5 p.m. CST on Friday, the Blue Raiders host Bethel (Tenn.). Then, at 1 p.m. CST on Saturday, Lindsey Wilson welcomes Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.).
