COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson junior varsity volleyball team captured its first victory of the 2025 season on Thursday afternoon, defeating Georgetown (Ky.) 2-0.
Jamie Phelps hit 0.562 with 10 kills,
Baleigh Young added eight kills on a 0.462 attack percentage, and
Gracie Friedrich finished with four kills and three blocks.
From the service line,
Ahalia Ramirez and
Jayla Sheckles each had three aces, while
Cammie Judd added two.
Chelsey Kisegy led the Blue Raiders with eight assists and seven digs.
As a team, Lindsey Wilson hit 0.377.
Georgetown led 15-11 in the first set before a solo block by Friedrich started a four-point run to tie the score. The Tigers inched back in front 19-17, then a kill by Young sparked a 6-0 rally that included two aces from Ramirez. Lindsey Wilson held the lead for good with Ramirez finding Young for a set-clinching kill.
The Tigers started the second set up 3-0 but quickly lost ground when the Blue Raiders turned in a massive 11-1 run. Phelps had three kills during the stretch. The Blue Raiders' lead ballooned to as many as nine points as they coasted to a 25-19 set win.
Lindsey Wilson begins a five-match road trip at 4 p.m. CT on Tuesday, September 23 at Cumberlands (Ky.).
