COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Blue Raider softball team returns to Kentucky this week after spending most of last week in Indiana and Alabama. Lindsey Wilson is set to begin its 2025 conference schedule at Georgetown (Ky.) on Friday, March 14, but will first head west to Owensboro on Tuesday, March 11 for a doubleheader with the Brescia (Ky.) at Jack C. Fisher Park.
The Bearcats are fresh off a sweep of West Virigina Tech last Friday, snapping a four-game losing streak. Kaitlyn Bradbury, who is hitting 0.348 this season, batted 5-for-9 with two doubles and a pair of RBIs in the series, while Felicity Cunningham added three RBIs on two doubles of her own. The latter of the two also pitched 9.0 innings in which she retired seven on strikes and allowed one earned run on 10 hits.
Brescia last played on its home field on February 27 when the Bearcats fell in back-to-back, run-ruled games to Kentucky Wesleyan.
Lindsey Wilson is back in action after playing four games in the Gulf Coast Invitational this past weekend. While in Alabama,
Nora Epley produced a team-high five hits, including two doubles,
Sam Hartman contributed four hits, and
Kaiden Rodgers drove in five runs on three hits, all of which went for extra bases.
On the rubber,
Kayden Murray recorded an earned run average of 0.89 in three appearances and picked up two wins in the process. In 15.2 innings pitched, the sophomore gave up two earned runs on 10 hits and struck out 17. Murray currently leads the Mid-South in total strikeouts with 55 and needs only two more to move into the program's career top-10 list.
The Blue Raiders and the Bearcats last met on February 22, 2020, but have not played one another in Owensboro since 2008. Lindsey Wilson has won 11 straight in the all-time series dating back to 2004.
Live coverage of Tuesday's doubleheader will be provided on Brescia Softball's Facebook page.
The first pitch of game one is slated for noon CST.
