Men's Track Begins Outdoor Season at Cumberlands

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. – The Lindsey Wilson men's track and field team finished in second place at the Cumberlands Early Spring Meet in Williamsburg, Kentucky. 

The Blue Raiders scored 124 points, trailing behind Cumberlands (Ky.), who claimed the top spot with 181 points. Lindsey Wilson's points came from a variety of events, including 42 points in the jumps, 40 points in the sprints, 21 points in the hurdles, 10 points in the relays, and five points in the throws. 


Lindsey Wilson finished with three first-place finishes throughout today's event.
In the triple jump, Lorenzo Luces jumped 14.87 meters marking it a NAIA "B" standard. His fellow teammate Jayden Wentz finished second, jumping 14.09 meters, while Summy Manirakiza finished fifth jumping 12.84 meters. 

In the 4x400 relay, the Blue Raiders finished first with
a time of 3:16.07 setting a NAIA "B" standard. Miah Chatmond, David Requejo, Royce Mentor IV, and Daniel Otibo were the individuals competing in their respective events. 

In the 400-meter hurdles, Enric Fernandez claimed first place with a time of 56.30 seconds. Teammates Kai Avery and Ian Rosario Alicea finished third and fourth, respectively, with
times of 1:00.31 and 1:02.18. 

The 400-meter dash also saw strong performances from the Blue Raiders. Otibo took second with a time of 48.37 seconds, while Mentor IV finished third at 48.83. Requejo placed fifth with a time of 49.32, and Chatmond rounded out the top six, finishing in 49.91. 


Dyse Harding had two top-five finishes where he came in second place in the high jump, leaping 1.90 meters and finishing sixth in the long jump with 6.25 meters. He was joined by teammates Luces in the long jump where he placed 3rd jumping 6.58 meters, Manirakiza jumping 6.15 meters, and Wentz with 6.05 meters. 


In the 100-meter dash, Demarcus Robertson finished third with a time of 10.89 seconds, while Deanglo Patterson took fifth at 10.91. Fernandez finished eighth with a time of 11.04, and Luke Birdsong placed 11th with a time of 11.14. 


Bryan Coleman competed in the shot put,
where he placed eighth with a throw of 12.06 meters, and Richard Newland finished 13th with a throw of 10.23 meters.

Lindsey Wilson continues its outdoor schedule on March 20-22 at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
