LEBANON, Tenn. – The No. 3-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's tennis team extended its winning streak with a 5-2 road victory over No. 25 Cumberland (Tenn.) on Thursday evening at the Tommy Gray Memorial Courts. Lindsey Wilson grabbed the early 1-0 lead by winning two of the three doubles matches. The No. 20-ranked duo of Aina Domingo Bernabeu and Mariangeles Mateu set the tone with a dominant 6-0 win at No. 3 doubles over Kaede Hatano and Lara Zugasti. Shortly after, the No. 2-ranked pair of Heyka Rodriguez and Anastasiia Vorobiova clinched the doubles point with a 6-3 victory at the top spot against Madeleine Darud and Valentina Mendez. Cumberland avoided the sweep with a 6-4 win at No. 2, but Lindsey Wilson carried a 1-0 lead into singles play.
The Blue Raiders extended their advantage to 2-0 as No. 18-ranked Aina Domingo Bernabeu delivered a commanding 6-1, 6-2 win over Elina Sungatullina at No. 1 singles. Cumberland responded at No. 3 singles, where Emilia Nowak edged No. 23-ranked Mariangeles Mateu in a grueling three-set battle, 3-6, 7-6 (7), 6-4, cutting the Blue Raider lead to 2-1.
No. 8-ranked Anastasiia Vorobiova pushed Lindsey Wilson closer to victory with a 7-5, 4-6, 6-2 triumph over Valentina Mendez at No. 2 singles, making it 3-1. Moments later, Anastasiia Ivanchenko secured the decisive fourth point for the Blue Raiders, defeating Ame Van Eijk 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 at No. 4 singles.
The Blue Raiders added one final win at No. 5 singles, where Mayra Gisone dominated Madeleine Darud 6-1, 6-2, extending the lead to 5-1. Cumberland earned its second point at No. 6, as Lara Zugasti edged No. 65-ranked Heyka Rodriguez in a tight 7-6 (4), 6-4 contest to close out the match.
