Weekend Trip to Gulf Shores on Schedule for Softball

COLUMBIA, Ky. – The Blue Raider softball team will spend the last few days of spring break in Gulf Shores, Alabama at this weekend's Gulf Coast Invitational.

Lindsey Wilson has a handful of games scheduled over a span of three days, including one against 13th-ranked William Carey (Miss.) at 6 p.m. CST on Saturday. The other four non-conference opponents on tap include Thomas (Ga.), Point (Ga.), Faulkner (Ala.), and Texas A&M-San Antonio.

Action begins at 9 a.m. CST on Friday, March, when the Blue Raiders take on the Night Hawks of Thomas. The 'Hawks are 8-9 this season, including 2-7 against ranked opponents. Sophomore Annalise Buncy paces the Thomas offense with a 0.370 batting average on 20 hits, four doubles, and two home runs. Buncy and teammate Alexis Adams are tied for the team-lead with 10 runs batted-in, apiece.

Then, at 1:30 p.m. CST, Lindsey Wilson faces off with Point. The Skyhawks are in the midst of an 11-game losing streak with their last win coming back on February 8 in Columbia, South Carolina over Spartanburg Methodist (S.C.). Sophomore Alyssa Burrows is credited with two of Points' three victories. She has worked through 47.2 innings and holds a 4.55 earned-run average.

Saturday's doubleheader opens at 3:45 p.m. CST when the Blue Raiders square off with Faulkner. The Eagles, who are currently 10-2 this season, are led by Addyson Jarman and Chloe Davidson with 26 and 21 hits, respectively.

William Carey's (15-2) lineup features three hitters with at least 20 hits on the year. Junior Julia Shaw checks in with a 0.705 slugging percentage on seven doubles and a home run. In the circle, Ryanne Hornsby and Reanna Nieman are responsible for all of the Crusaders' wins. The duo has 45 and 41 strikeouts to their names, respectively.

Lindsey Wilson's weekend wraps at 9 a.m. CST on Sunday morning versus Texas A&M-San Antonio. The Jaguars (9-11) are fresh off back-to-back wins over Huston-Tillotson (Texas) in which they outscored their opponent 17-3. Kaylee Barlow and Kristianna Luerra sit atop the 'Jags lineup with 21 hits each.

The Blue Raiders have won six of their last nine games after starting the season 1-4. In the last nine games, Kaiden Rodgers is batting 0.429 with nine hits, two doubles, a home run, and 11 runs batted-in, while Sam Hartman and Kendall Dailey are contributing 12 and 10 hits, respectively, and have combined for 12 RBIs.

On the rubber, Grace Adams is 3-1 in her last five appearances, and Kayden Murray is 2-1 with a 2.36 earned-run average and 33 strikeouts.
