MCKENZIE, Tenn. – The No. 2-ranked Lindsey Wilson men's tennis team defeated Bethel (Tenn.) 6-1 to open Mid-South Conference play at the Dr. Deborah Thompson Tennis Complex on Saturday.
Mayara Gisone and
Martina Cortal defeated Lavinia Anais Karadza and Paula Milla Becerra 6-0 at No. 2 doubles.
Mariangeles Mateu and
Blanca Trillo Pita da Veiga clinched the doubles point for the Blue Raiders with a 6-0 victory at No. 2 doubles.
Heyka Rodriguez and
Javiera Verdugo won 6-2 at No. 1 doubles.
Verdugo increased the Blue Raider lead to 2-0 with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Cloe Casado at No. 4 singles. Mateu pushed the Lindsey Wilson advantage to 3-0 with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 3 singles over Lavinia Anais Karadza. Gisone clinched the match for the Blue Raiders defeating Camila Barragan Canas 6-0, 6-2 at No. 1.
Canto defeated Cortal 6-3, 6-2 at No. 2 singles to make it 4-1. Trillo and
Antonina Butrova earned victories at No. 5 and No.6 singles, respectively.
The Blue Raiders are back in action on Sunday hosting Georgetown (Ky.) at 1 p.m. CT at the Henry Baughman Tennis Complex.
