BOWLING GREEN, Ky. - Lindsey Wilson women's bowling put forth a spirited fight against "Highway 55" rival Campbellsville (Ky.) during the first round of the Mid-South Conference tournament on Thursday afternoon. The ninth-seeded Tigers, however, found the edge necessary to complete a comeback and defeat the Blue Raiders 2-1.
In the first leg of the Mega Match,
Katelyn Lewis rolled a team-high 221 to pace Lindsey Wilson to an 868-767 victory in the traditional team game.
Megan Fowler contributed a 184, and
Shayla Bockelman turned in a solid 182 to help lead the Blue Raiders.
The subsequent leg saw Lindsey Wilson fall behind early after one baker game but bounce back with a lobsided second effort to take the advantage in total pin fall. Despite leading into the final baker game, the Blue Raiders could not hold off Campbellsville late as the Tigers outscored Lindsey Wilson 203-166 to win the point 806-796.
Format three of the match-up featured all the dramatics of a rivalry showdown. Lindsey Wilson struck first, winning the first baker game 171-152. Then, Campbellsville responded with back-to-back wins to go ahead 2-1. The Blue Raiders stayed alive, even forcing a unique eighth baker game after tying in the sixth. Campbellsville took a 3.5-2.5 game lead into the final baker game and ultimately emerged the victors to take the match-up 2-1.
Lindsey Wilson drops to the consolation bracket of the tournament and goes head-to-head with Union Commonwealth (Ky.) at 8 a.m. CT on Friday, February 6 in a best-of-7 baker game series.
