Women’s Tennis Advances to Finals of ITA NAIA Indoor National Championship With 4-2 Victory Over Southeastern

ROME, Ga. – The No. 3-ranked Lindsey Wilson women's tennis team defeated Southeastern (Fla.) 4-2 in the semifinals of the ITA NAIA Indoor National Championships on Saturday at the Rome Tennis Center.
 
With the victory, the Blue Raiders (3-0) advance to the finals on Sunday at 4:30 p.m. CT. Lindsey Wilson will square off against the top seed and No. 1-ranked Keiser for the championship. The Seahawks opened their tournament on Friday with a 4-0 victory over No. 8 seed Holy Cross (Ind.). Keiser defeated fourth-seeded Tennessee Wesleyan 4-1 on Saturday.
 
Mariangeles Mateu and Blanca Trillo Pita da Veiga defeated Aurora Compagnucci  and Leonie Schondelmaier 6-3 in the third-seeded doubles match. Heyka Rodriguez and Javiera Verdugo earned the doubles point for Lindsey Wilson with a 6-2 victory over Martina Picardi and Alessia Ciampi at No. 1 doubles.
 
Verdugo pushed the Blue Raider lead to 2-0 with a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Ciampi at No. 4 singles. Southeastern trimmed the Lindsey Wilson lead to 2-1 when Isabella Bolivar Gar defeated Martina Cortal 6-4, 6-1 at No. 2 singles.
 
The Fire tied the match with Schondelmaier earning a 6-4, 7-6 (7-2) victory over Mateu in the third-seeded singles match. Hang Nguyen put the Blue Raiders back in front 3-2 with a 6-3, 6-3 victory in No. 6 singles against Compagnucci. Mayra Gisone clinched the match for Lindsey Wilson with a 6-2, 2-6, 6-4 victory over Picardi in the top-seeded singles match.
 
Lindsey Wilson takes on Keiser on Sunday in the finals of the ITA Indoor National Championship at 4:30 p.m. CT at the Rome Tennis Center.
