ROME, Ga. – The Lindsey Wilson women's tennis team fell in the finals of the ITA NAIA Indoor National Championship 4-1 to Keiser (Fla.) on Sunday at the Rome Tennis Center.
Violet Apisah and Patricia Apisah defeated
Heyka Rodriguez and
Javiera Verdugo 6-1 at No. 1 doubles. The Blue Raiders tied doubles with a 6-3 victory from
Mariangeles Mateu and
Blanca Trillo Pita da Veiga over Alexandra Melnikova and Lena Couto at No. 3 doubles. Lindsey Wilson earned the doubles point with a 7-6 (7-5) victory from
Mayra Gisone and
Martina Cortal over Ella Sahnis and Veronika Grydnieva.
Couto tied the match for the Seahawks with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Trillo at No. 5 singles. Violet Apisah gave Keiser a 2-1 lead with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Gisone at No. 1 singles and Patricia Apisah increased the lead to 3-1 with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Mateu in the third-seeded match. Keiser clinched the match with a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 2 singles.
The Blue Raiders are back in action on February 28 for a Mid-South Conference match against Bethel (Tenn.) in McKenzie, Tennessee.
