COLUMBIA, Ky. – Lindsey Wilson student-athlete Mayra Gisone has been selected as the Mid-South Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week, conference officials announced Monday.
 
Gisone, of Santa Fe, Argentina, earns her fifth career weekly honor and third this season after going 2-0 in both singles and doubles in wins over No. 10 Marian (Ind.) and No. 19 Cumberland (Tenn.).  She defeated Marian's Yasmin Imamniyazova (No. 14) 5-7, 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1 singles. Against Cumberland, she won 6-3, 6-4 over Asya Tilsim Timur at No. 1 singles.
 
She teamed up with Martina Cortal and defeated Michelle Irigouyen and Jimena Rivera from Marian 6-3 at No. 2 doubles. Against Cumberland, the duo defeated Maria Arbelaez and Elina Sungatullina 6-4 at No. 2 doubles.
 
Gisone and the Blue Raiders are back in action on Monday hosting No. 12 Cumberlands at 2 p.m. CT at the Henry Baughman Tennis Complex.
