COLUMBIA, Ky. - No. 11 Lindsey Wilson travels to Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) this weekend for the Blue Raiders' penultimate road series of the season.
Entering Friday, Lindsey Wilson (33-5, 9-3 MSC) holds a one-game lead atop the Mid-South Conference standings, while the Lions (17-16, 7-5 MSC) sit in fourth and only two games back of the lead.
Freed-Hardeman was off from conference play last week but did play six non-conference games, going 4-2. Chloe Carter and Alivia Eggleston paced the Lions' offense by combining for 17 RBIs on 26 hits, including three doubles, a triple, and three home runs.
Against league opponents, Myleah Hardy has been a force at the plate. Her 0.486 batting average and 16 RBIs in twelve conference contests leads the Mid-South. On Saturday, April 11 in the Lions' series win over Bryan (Tenn.), Hardy became the Freed-Hardeman program career and single-season home run record holder. The senior is up to 14 long balls on the year.
Katy Gartrell and Hannah Jones each have six wins from the circle.
Lindsey Wilson is 4-2 in road conference games so far this season. The Blue Raider pitching staff is holding those opponents to a 0.197 clip from the plate, while the offense is batting 0.241.
Summer Ray bumped her hit streak up to three games during Tuesday's sweep of Ohio Christian. The junior sports a 0.500 average over her last three outings with three RBIs on four hits, including her third home run of the year.
Kayden Murray, who recently surpassed 500 career strikeouts, needs one victory to eclipse the 50-win threshold. Through her last five starts -- all complete games -- she has averaged 11.8 strikeouts per game, allowed one hit or fewer three times, and amassed an earned run average of 1.03.
Last season, Lindsey Wilson won two out of three games against Freed-Hardeman. Each of the games was decided by one run.
The three-game series gets underway with a doubleheader at 3 p.m. CT on Friday, April 17, then concludes with a single game at 11 a.m. CT on Saturday, April 18.
