Softball Travels to Cumberland for Weekend Conference Series

COLUMBIA, Ky. - Following a successful homestand, 11th-ranked Blue Raider softball hits the road to Tennessee to face Cumberland (Tenn.) in a three-game weekend series.

Lindsey Wilson added nine wins in its stay at Marilyn D. Sparks Park over the last two weeks to improve to 29-4 overall and 7-2 in Mid-South play. In true road games this season, the Blue Raiders are 4-2.

The Phoenix hold a 9-6 mark on their home field and have won four straight, including two-game sweeps of (RV) Georgia Gwinnett on March 25 and No. 19 Tennessee Southern on Wednesday, April 8.

Cumberland is led by freshman Avery Rauscher. The Tennessee native ranks fourth in the conference in strikeouts and earned run average, and fifth in wins with seven. Rauscher has made five appearances this season against Mid-South opponents and has allowed more than one earned run in only one of those contests.

At the plate, Karley Daughrity is hitting 5-for-10 with two RBIs over the Phoenix four-game winning streak.

Lindsey Wilson is batting 0.287 in conference play. The trio of Kaiden Rodgers, Natalie Wandrie, and Sam Hartman are responsible for more than half of the Blue Raiders hits against league opponents, as well as 11 of the team's 18 doubles, 15 of 31 RBIs, and two of three home runs.

Hallie Roberts sports a 0.94 earned run average in four conference starts, while Kayden Murray is 4-1 with five complete games and a save.

The Blue Raiders swept the Phoenix in last season's regular season series in Columbia, but Cumberland defeated Lindsey Wilson in the first round of the playoffs. The two sides were scheduled to meet, again, in the consolation bracket before the remainder of the tournament was canceled because of inclement weather.

Since 2001, Lindsey Wilson is 60-22 against Cumberland.

Game one of the series is set for 1 p.m. CT on Friday, April 10, followed by games two and three at noon and 2 p.m. CT on Saturday, April 11.

Live coverage of the series will be provided by the Urban Edge Network.
