Women's Tennis Falls to Auburn-Montgomery In NAIA Semifinals

Box Score MOBILE, Ala. -- The Lindsey Wilson College women's tennis team fell just short of the NAIA championship match as they lost 5-2 to Auburn University-Montgomery (Ala.) in the semifinals of the NAIA Women's Tennis National Championships in Mobile, Alabama.
Top-seed Auburn-Montgomery took two of three in doubles competition to take an early lead over the fifth-seeded Blue Raiders. Freshman Natalia Yakimovich and freshman Fadzai Mawisire won 8-4 in No. 1 doubles. Sophomore Candela Castanon paired with senior Florencia Bertoletti in No. 2 doubles and lost 9-7. In No. 3 doubles, junior Zuzana Rakyta-Komendatova and senior Marla Rogers were defeated 8-2.

Castanon tied the match at 2-2 with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Kamila Dadakhodjaeva in No. 1 singles. AUM's Aina Rafolomanontiaskia defeated Mawisire 6-1, 6-3 in No. 3 singles, while Nadia Lysak defeated Rakyta-Komendatova 6-0, 6-0. Auburn-Montgomery's Natalie Sienkob defeated Marla Rogers 6-0, 6-0 to clinch the finals berth for Auburn-Montgomery.

Auburn-Montgomery (30-1), the defending champions, advance to the NAIA championship
match to face Fresno Pacific (Calif.)University. Fresno Pacific (24-1) defeated Azusa Pacific (Calif.) University 5-1 to reach the finals.

Lindsey Wilson finishes the season with a 23-3 record.
