COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Eight Lindsey Wilson College men's soccer players scored to help the Blue Raiders to a 9-0 win over visiting West Virginia University Tech on Tuesday night at Lindsey Wilson Park.
With the win, Lindsey Wilson claims the Mid-South Conference regular season title and the top seed in MSC Tournament at Georgetown (Ky.) College on October 29-30.
Lindsey Wilson freshman forward Jakob Rittig scored a pair of goals in the win to help the 4th-ranked Blue Raiders improve to 14-1-0 overall and 5-0-0 in the MSC. Tech falls to 8-6-1 overall and 2-2 in the MSC.
Blue Raider senior Ryan Stewart -- playing in his final match at Lindsey Wilson Park -- scored the first goal in the sixth minute off to give Lindsey Wilson a 1-0 lead. The goal was Stewart's 13th of the season and third game-winner.
Ten minutes after Stewart's goal, junior Nathaniel Jafta scored his team-leading 17th goal of the season to push the Lindsey Wilson lead to 2-0. Freshman Turlien Romulus, sophomore Carnell Learmond and Rittig each scored in the first half to give the Blue Raiders the 5-0 lead at the break.
In the second half, Lindsey Wilson continued its dominance -- the Blue Raiders out-shot the Golden Bears 19-5 for the match -- with four more goals en route to the 9-0 win.
Freshman goalkeeper Pedro Caetano recorded three saves in the shutout win.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 1 p.m. CT on Saturday, October 20, as the Blue Raiders travel to Auburn University Montgomery for the regular season finale.
