COLUMBIA, Ky. -- Lindsey Wilson junior midfielder continued his stellar play on Monday night with four goals to lead the Blue Raiders to a 5-1 win over visiting Georgetown (Ky.) College at Lindsey Wilson Park.
Jafta -- the reigning Mid-South Conference Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week -- scored a goal for the third straight match to help the No. 5-ranked Blue Raiders improve to 10-1-0 on the season and 3-0-0 in the MSC. Georgetown falls to 3-8-0 overall and 1-3-0 in conference play.
Jafta opened the scoring in the fourth minute with a goal deep in the penalty area off freshman Frederick Were's assist to give Lindsey Wilson a 1-0 lead.
The game would remain 1-0 for much of the first half before Jafta would strike again just before halftime.
The Capetown, South Africa, native, scored at the 42:18 mark off senior midfielder Tiyiselani Shipalane's fifth assist of the season to give Lindsey Wilson a 2-0 lead at the break.
Lindsey Wilson senior defender Scott Blandford scored his second goal of the season off a rebound from the top of the penalty area to give the Blue Raiders a 3-0 lead.
Jafta recorded the hat trick 13 minutes later after freshman Jose Espinoza was taken down in the penalty area by Georgetown senior goalkeeper Sam Taylor. Jafta hit the PK to the lower left beating Taylor who guessed right and Lindsey Wilson increased its lead to 4-0.
Georgetown freshman Ryan Blake ended LWC junior goalkeeper Glen Fox's clean sheet with an unassisted goal in the 84th minute.
Jafta ended the scoring 67 seconds later with his fourth goal of the night and his team-leading 14th of the season.
The Blue Raiders out-shot the Tigers 16-3 on the night.
Fox allowed one goal without a save, while Taylor allowed five goals and collected seven saves.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 7 p.m. CT on Thursday, October 4, as the Blue Raiders host Mid-Continent (Ky.) University at Lindsey Wilson Park.
