COLUMBIA, Ky. - Lindsey Wilson College senior midfielder Nathaniel Jafta scored three goals to lead the No. 2 seeded Blue Raiders past West Virginia University Institute of Technology 5-1 tonight in the Mid-South Conference Tournament semifinals at Walter S. Reuling Stadium.
Jafta scored his first goal in the 14th minute. His second (39:56) and third (47:01) goals came within seven minutes of each other in the second half. With the hat-trick Jafta moved into ninth place on the all-time goals scored list with 45 goals in his career.
Freshman midfielder Alex Linhard started the scoring in the third minute heading a beautiful crossing pass from sophomore forward Frederick Were. The goal was Linhard's sixth on the season.
Freshman forward Moses Aduny - who was named MSC Co-Player of the Year prior to kickoff - scored his 12th goal of the season in the 33rd minute.
Lindsey Wilson advances to Thursday's tournament finals where they will face the No. 1 seeded University of the Cumberlands (Ky.). Cumberlands advanced with a 5-1 win over No. 3 seed Campbellsville (Ky.) University in the other semifinal. Kick-off for the championship match is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. CT.
Aduny and Were were joined on the all-conference team by freshman defenders Michael Azira, Rasmus Jacobsen and Mikael Lunneryd and junior defender Shaun Francis .
In addition to his all-conference honor Were received the Champions of Character award.
