Box Score

GEORGETOWN, Ky. -- The Lindsey Wilson College women's soccer team won its eighth straight Mid-South Conference Tournament Championship after advancing past Georgetown (Ky.) College on penalty kicks (5-4) on Friday at Toyota Stadium.

Junior Caitlin Burke connected on the deciding penalty kick that gave the Blue Raiders a 5-4 advantage. Lindsey Wilson junior keeper Reiko Yoshida wrapped up the winning save on Georgetown's next attempt to seal the win.

The game was tied 2-2 at the end of regulation and neither overtime period produced a solid goal-scoring opportunity.

Sophomore midfielder Ida Gregersen scored the game's first goal in the 27th minute as she cut through the center of the box where sophomore defender Heini Metsola crossed a pinpoint pass to help deliver the score.

The Randers, Denmark native struck again in the 68th minute, heading a goal past a bevy of Tiger defenders off a cross from junior midfielder Caitlin Burke.

Allesandra Janszen scored Georgetown's first goal to ignite the comeback. Janszen's shot was hit into the upper left corner of the goal, just outside the penalty box.

The score was the first goal allowed by the Blue Raiders in nine contests.

Haley Stegner scored the tying goal for the Tigers (12-7-2) in the 88th minute on a deep shot that cruised high out of Yoshida's reach.

The top ranked Blue Raiders (17-2-2) had won 13 straight games before tying the Tigers.

Lindsey Wilson earns the conference's automatic berth to the NAIA National Tournament. Opening-round play begins on campus sites on Nov. 21.
