Box Score MOBILE, Ala. -- The Lindsey Wilson College women's tennis team upset a seeded opponent for the second time in as many days to advance to the NAIA National Championships' Final Four today at the Mobile Tennis Center.
The Blue Raiders (13-4) beat No. 3 seed Berry (Ga.) College 5-2 to advance to their fourth consecutive national semifinal. Lindsey Wilson beat No. 6 seed California Baptist University yesterday 5-4 to begin its upset run.
Lindsey Wilson faces Fresno Pacific (Calif.) University at 1 p.m. CT on Friday in a rematch of one of last season's national semifinal. Fresno Pacific beat the Blue Raiders 5-2 last season.
In today's win, the Blue Raiders jumped out to a 2-1 lead following doubles play. The doubles teams of junior Jessica Weyreuter and freshman Vanja Tomic and freshman Trina Slapeka and sophomore Darya Yablonskaya both won their doubles matches by scores of 8-3 to give Lindsey Wilson the lead.
The Blue Raiders dominated singles play winning at No. 2, No. 3 and No. 5 singles. All three wins were in straight sets to help Lindsey Wilson to the 5-2 win and advance to tomorrow's semifinals.
