Box Score AZUSA, Calif. -- After building a 2-0 lead by intermission, fourth ranked Azusa Pacific (Calif.) University never looked back, topping the third ranked Lindsey Wilson College women's soccer team 3-1 Saturday in Azusa, Calif.
Lindsey Wilson (1-2) got a late goal in the 74th minute from senior defender Yolanda Hamilton who was able to score over sliding Cougar keeper Alexa Douglas. The goal, however, was not enough to overcome Azusa Pacific senior defender Katie Rorabaugh and the rest of the Cougars.
Rorabaugh led Azusa Pacific (1-1) with two goals and an assist, going 2-for-4 on shot attempts. Her first score came in the 41st minute and the second was the result of a penalty kick awarded after she was fouled inside the box. Both goals were unassisted.
Cougar freshman defender Molly Lavin scored the games first goal in the 12th minute by putting away a loose ball from Rorabaugh's free kick.
Lindsey Wilson took only two shots for the game compared to Azusa Pacific's 12 attempts. Six of the Cougars shots were on goal. The Blue Raiders only attempt near the goal was Hamilton's score.
Blue Raider senior keeper Carrie Revlett made three saves on the day, while Douglas faced a pair of shots without registering a save.
Lindsey Wilson returns to action at 7 p.m. CT on Thursday, Sept. 3, against Indiana Wesleyan University at Walter S. Reuling Stadium.
